After suffering a close loss to Illinois over the weekend, Maryland heads back on the road to face off against Wisconsin on Tuesday night. The Badgers currently hold a record of 17-9 (9-6), and have lost five of their last six games. It's been a horrendous slide for Greg Gard's squad, who were ranked as high as #6 this season. They've lost just twice at home however, to Tennessee and Purdue.

Wisconsin is led by sophomore guard AJ Storr, who averages 17 points per game and is a unique size mismatch standing at 6'7". They have a talented frontcourt, made up of upperclassmen Tyler Wahl and Steven Crowl. Both average 11 points per game and are shooting more than 55% from the field. Crowl is another size mismatch, as a 7-footer who can stretch the floor from the perimeter. Their biggest issues recently have come on the defensive end, allowing less than 70 points just once during the last six games.

Since joining the Big Ten, Maryland is 6-8 against Wisconsin. They've won just twice in Madison, in 2016 and 2020.

You can only watch this game with a subscription to NBC's Peacock streaming service. Access begins at $5.99/month.

Wisconsin enters this game as 7.5-point favorites. ESPN gives them an 83.0% chance to win.

Man that’s a really pretty reverse layup from Reese there.

37-29 Wisconsin at halftime. Badgers finished the half on a good run.

This season has been excruciating. Mainly because they’ve created the illusion of being in so many games you just know they’ll lose.

Maryland refusing to die, making some late three-pointers to keep them within one score down the stretch. Not sure it'll be enough, though.

When you've been this close to so many wins that haven't gone your way - is it a player / talent issue or a coaching issue?

Aside from Villanova, Purdue, and Indiana all of the other losses have been within reach.

Combo of both and probably just a good bit of bad luck as well. Aside from not fouling near the end of the Illinois game - which in all likelihood wouldn't have changed the outcome anyway - I don't think Willard has done a poor job on game day. With the freshmen basically bringing nothing on offense its really hard to only count on 3 guys to do the scoring. And I don't think anyone expected them to collectively shoot as poorly as they have.

There have been at least 3 or 4 games, it feels like to me anyway, that are PROBABLY Ws if Reese makes 2 or 3 more free throws along the way.  If Reese had become a legit GOOD FT shooter, I think they are definitely up 4+ wins right now.  The misses always seem to kill momentum, and wind up where the Terps are playing from a possession of two behind at the end versus being even or up.

Disappointing season for sure, but it's wild how much different it could be if they had just make a few more FTs, or hit 1 more three, along the way...

Last year was a pleasant surprise to me after the Turgeon staleness.  This year is a bit of a bummer.

Like everything I'm sure it's both, but when they won every single close game, we gave the credit to Melo way more than Turgeon.

Technical foul on Willard.

That Tech on Willard was just stupid Willard.  The team plays great D and gets a shot clock violation, and then Willard says something stupid a gets a T, right before halftime.  Down 6, under a minute, UMD gets a great stop w/ chance to cut it to one possession score, and WIllard gets a T for being dumb.  SMH!

I don't think the Tech was on Willard.  It looked to me like it was on one of the assistant coaches behind Willard.  They called it a bench tech.

B10 officiating is way past awful.

The phantom charge on DHS was one of the worst calls we will see all year.  He split the defenders perfectly, layed the ball in, then a call was made.  Brutal.

I went to bed at the half because I was pretty sure I knew how that game would go, but just saw a few of the highlights.  Yeah, that was pretty awful.  As was the call against Long at the end of the game.  If you watch that Long play, the ref clearly didn't see the action.  He just saw Long on the floor and guessed.

Wisconsin shot 90% from the line.  Illinois 89% the game before.  Both close games.  Just one of those seasons.
