Looking like Herbert is going to be asked to be the hero alone

Josh Allen became the first NFL player in history to have three passing and three rushing touchdowns in the same game--and his team still lost. I don't know if Buffalo's defense is really that bad, or if they just ran into a quarterback in Matthew Stafford who picks zone defenses apart, but they were definitely in the holiday spirit of giving today against the Rams. Big blow to Buffalo's hopes of getting the No. 1 seed in the AFC.

Buffalo's defense had a bad day for sure. Josh Allen pretty much cemented his MVP with this game. Still though, MVP's are good, rings are what counts. Allen is like Lamar. You have to do it in the playoffs and at least get to the game. Mahomes has been very average the last two years but he has the rings and if he completes the trifecta this year, all the MVP's in the world mean nothing.
If Josh Allen gets to and wins a SB, he will surpass Jim Kelly in Buffalo. Kelly was amazing for years. Four consecutive SB appearances stands alone. But one win will surpass that. Rings are what counts.

Typical SI weekly recap article but I'm interested in what they say about the Vikings and Darnold. MIN was really high on JJ McCarthy but Darnold has been pretty great. I personally think you still let Darnold walk after the season and turn the reigns to McCarthy, but that's obviously a big risk.

Darnold is like prime Kirk at his best - I don't think he's going to win a Super Bowl. So they might as well try with McCarthy, since they felt strongly enough about the talent to take him where they did in the first place. Darnold will earn a starting role somewhere (Cleveland, Vegas, New York x2, etc.).

I doubt Cleveland makes a play for Darnold. Not while Deshaun Watson's albatross of a contract is hanging over them.

Dallas Leon Lett-ed themselves out of a possible win tonight against the Bengals.

It would be a dream for CLE to eat Watson money and their pride, and spend on Darnold too. Take him out of the domes, against better defenses more often, and without Jefferson, and he's a middling NFL QB at best. Let them set themselves back AGAIN for at least 2 or 3 years.
I don't think they have the money to spend on another QB outside of backup level. Watson's got a $72 million cap hit each of the next two seasons.

Yeah, but they could restructure and defer. That would be a very Browns thing to do...

They've already added voidable years to the contract, which will only temporarily ease some of the pain. Constantly kicking the can down the road means they could have this guy on the books until he's 80.

I've never seen a team get as many lucky bounces go their way as Pittsburgh.
Ref to Tomlin: “Sorry, Mike. If that happens on Saturday, there’s definitely a call on the Ravens. Unfortunately, you’re playing Philly today.”

TJ Watt just hurt his left ankle or foot. Poor baby.
