I would have preferred Weaver here as DC over Orr. A little odd how Orr could pass over Weaver for the DC job here.

Because Weaver was atrocious in Hou. He was also passed up by MacDonald for the job 2 years ago. So twice passed up in Baltimore. Harbaugh said he wanted to keep him but cant blame Weaver for leaving. Neither Orr or Weaver inspire a lot of confidence from me but the org deserves respect when it comes to DC hires

Agree on Weaver.

Disagree in the lack of confidence in Orr. He was the exact type of player that makes a good coach and he's been coaching for nearly a decade now so he doesn't lack for experience aside from calling plays which everyone lacks until they have it. Just a fluke that he's so young. If he didn't have a medical impediment to his career he'd probably still be playing.

Orr also had a DC offer from the Packers, and there was some speculation (don't remember if it was more than speculation) MacDonald would take him as DC, so it's not like the Ravens are going out on a limb hiring him. We have no idea if he will succeed, but this team has earned trust in some areas and this is one of them. He's been in the NFL 7 years after his playing career, if he had the same resume but was like 6-8 years older no one would bat an eye IMO.

Yeah, he's definitely skyrocketed up the coaching ranks. Good for him, and yes, the Ravens typically find solid DCs (and solid talent). Ravens Wired has just showed him a time or three in the LB room leading a meeting and there was a lot of stammering. Just didn't feel a strong "command of the room" vibe. But in fairness, those are typically 20 to 30 second clips out of a whole week / whole season, so...

Good pick for McDaniel and Miami, Anthony and Mike know each other from their time together at Texas and Cleveland, so makes alot of sense.  I look forward to seeing how the Miami "D" improves.
