Following a solid road win in Iowa City, Maryland returns home to face off against Nebraska on Saturday afternoon. The Cornhuskers are off to a good 15-5 (5-4) start to their season, continuing to improve each year under head coach Fred Hoiberg. They've been excellent at home so far, losing just one game at Pinnacle Bank Arena to Creighton in early December. All four of their conference losses have come on the road, to Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Rutgers. Their biggest win of the year came over Purdue, blowing them out by 16 points in early January.
Nebraska is led by their offense, which is run by senior guard Keisei Tominaga. He's a very good three-level scorer, and plays with a ton of energy on the court. Like most Big Ten teams, they also feature a talented big man in 6'10" Rienk Mast. He's averaging 14 points and 9 rebounds per game, and is a threat from beyond the arc. In fact, every player on the Cornhuskers' roster is a three-point option and they love to shoot the ball from distance. Junior forward Juwan Gary suffered a calf injury recently and his status for this game is uncertain.
Since joining the Big Ten, Maryland is 11-4 against Nebraska. They split the series last year, with each team winning their respective home matchups.
