Young... gotta love his heart.
That was a nice W.
Get back to .500 in conference play and beat Nebraska Saturday.

Maybe Willard is a good coach considering he's still competing with basically a 3 man team.
Just stop

Scott seems to have gotten out of his early season funk and the team solid now. If anyone else could step up and join the party we could actually be good and get back on the right side of the bubble. Haven't seen more than a few small flashes from the frosh and the nobody else has even done that little.
Yeah, Scott has definitely turned a corner and has been playing hard. Good for him. Glad the play elevated.
They got out-rebounded tonight. Turnovers were equal. MD had 20 FTs, Iowa 18.
Difference of the game was MD was 7 of 15 from 3, and Iowa was 3 for 14.
Completely agree with you that they've got to get more from DHS, Kaiser, Geronimo, Batchelor, Long....
To be fair to Long, he had 9 vs. Michigan State, and 6 tonight...
With Geronimo, you really don't need him to score... but he has to defend and rebound...
Batchelor, you'd like to see him make two baskets a game.
DHS and Kaiser... are averaging a combined 10.9 ppg, 7.1 boards, 2.7 assists, 1.9 steals, 4 FT attempts per game, 2.5 turnovers, 6.4 three point attempts per game... 12 field goal attempts per game...
If they could get their combined scoring up to like 16 points a game... that would definitely take some pressure off of Young, Reese, Scott....

I think he is fine coaching the team. Maryland got better as the season went on last year and they are doing it again. He is a good coach. Your right though, the team is totally reliant on Young, Reese and Scott.
My concern with Willard is he seems disenchanted with the portal and NIL or the resources he has at Maryland to deal with it. It would not surprise me to see him move on.

Jahmir Young is a terrific CBB player. I think it was McCaffrey's kid on him at the end of the game. It was a total mismatch. He blew right by him.

One thing is consistent about Maryland, they play damn good defense. It was a big factor in Maryland winning.

Nah, he was surprisingly pretty tame tonight.
Had to miss this one - can someone hit me with a Mac rage meter? Did he have any meltdowns?

I’m sure he’ll turn it back up to 11 once Juwan Howard inevitably gets fired and reclaim his rightful place as the Big Ten’s resident hothead.
Damn. F’er must finally be listening to his cardiologist. Feel like he’s tamed it down these past couple years for the most part.

DVR'd the game and watched it later. Random observation, but the dude guarding Young on the last shot seemed VERY slow / lazy / whatever there. I would ASSUME they know he prefers to go to the left hand, so cheat a bit and at least TRY to force him opposite, maybe make him pull up and take a longer shot. The final offensive set was frustrating for several seconds, cuz that's where I thought it was headed... the Turgeon Special... dribble around solo, kill clock, take a long shot with a hand in your face, pray it goes in... but Willard called for the screen (Scott I think? wasn't a "great" one to my eyes) and everything opened up.

Good road win for UMD. The Terps play defense, that is one thing I can't complain too much about. The top of the B1G is Purdue, Wisconsin and MSU, with the others all scrambling behind.

I think it was McCaffrey's son trying to check Young. I thought the last 22 seconds were almost perfect. They have to dribble off15 seconds or so, then make their move around 5 and take the shot at 2. That ensures they get the last shot. Young had to be smiling when he saw the matchup. Scott set the screen and Young blew past McCaffrey.

I think he was well behaved. He was bitching at the refs a little but nowhere near what he used to do. Maryland erased a late 7 point Iowa lead and I thought Fran would explode but he was calm.
