We knew their offense might struggle with so many new starters. That their defense got worked over the way it did was a bit surprising.
With Michigan’s loss the longest active winning streak in the country now belongs to….Arizona.

Tennessee 51 NCST 10 – Are the Volunteers potential spoilers in the SEC East? Some were touting the Wolfpack as an ACC sleeper. That was the best they could do? 28 carries for 39 yards for NCST. 44 carries for 249 yards for Tennessee.
Just a heads up, there isn't a SEC East anymore. (only the Sun Belt still has divisions, for some reason)
That said, I expected the Vols to handle NC State to the degree they'd be talked about as a CFP contender. They do have to play Alabama and at Georgia, but other than that their schedule looks very manageable. In addition to Alabama and UGA, you have Texas, Missouri and Ole Miss who look tough....so 10-2 might be iffy for the Vols to be a lock, but would definitely have them in the conversation.
Re: ND/NIU - While that game didn't kill ND's playoff hopes, it may have put NIU in the driver's seat for the G5 spot. If the loss for the Irish was more of a fluke than an indication of who they really are, it's hard to imagine a G5 team with a better win. Of course NIU must win the MAC, or it's a moot point.

I think NIU was picked like 4th in their conference. If both BSU and NIU run the table the rest of the way it will be interesting to see how it falls. If Oregon is strong and ND falters SOS may come into play. But I give the Broncos a better shot to run the table the rest of over NIU. And if they both end up 12-1 BSU will get in.
We'll see. The MWC tend to eat each other up, which is why they haven't made a NY6 bowl since Boise did it back in 2014. They also get Oregon State at the end of the season, and despite having their roster and coaching staff decimated the Beavers have looked decent so far. The Civil War Saturday will be a good barometer for them.
NIU still has to play at NC State in Week 5, and despite what happened to the Pack last week I don't think that will be an easy game, but if NIU wins that only makes them look better. I know there were other factors at play, but there's a scenario that might almost be reminiscent of when Cincinnati made the 4-team CFP....their P5 wins were against an Indiana team that ended up being not very good and ND who finished right behind them at #5 (prior to the bowls).

I know Memphis is good... but Florida State falling to 0-3 is wild.
