Thoughts:
- Miami is out, and even though it's only one spot I don't see a path for them to get back in
- Of the three 3-loss SEC teams (Alabama, Ole Miss, S Carolina) they went with the Tide. I get it. Are they the best team of the three? Yes. Are they the most deserving? No. They don't deserve to sniff the CFP after the way they played against Oklahoma, but when they actually decide to show up and play, they are the best of those three.
- I actually think South Carolina might be playing the best ball of those three right now, but it's hard to justify picking the Gamecocks when they lost to both of the other teams (and very convincingly so against Ole Miss)
- Curious to see what happens to SMU if they lose to Clemson. The committee says they won't really look to punish teams who lose in a CCG, but it would largely depend on how they play. If Clemson blows them out, maybe they could fall enough to miss out. As long as the Mustangs keep it close, I think they'll be okay.
- Seems to me the committee punished Georgia far more for their road losses to Alabama and Ole Miss than they did Ohio State for losing at home to 7-5 Michigan. That the Buckeyes look like a lock to host a 1st Rd game against Tennessee feels backwards to me. That game should be in Knoxville.
- Can a case be made Boise State should be ranked above Indiana? I think so. BSU has one win over a currently ranked team, Indiana none. Boise’s one loss was to the #1 team by 3 points. Indiana’s was against the #6 team by 23 points. Indiana has the tougher strength of schedule, but not by as much as you might think (8% margin). And like SMU, should Boise State not be dropped if they lose a close game to UNLV (a team they already beat this season)?

Unfortunately I am pretty sure that if we lose to UNLV that we won't get an at at large bid. Which is a shame since we will have 2 losses both to ranked teams. But it is what it is.

I tend to agree. Can't see two MWC teams getting in. Have to think Wazzou's late season fade doesn't help either. That was their best win for a while.

Boise State has punched their ticket to the CFP, and will likely claim a Top 4 seed with a 1st Rd bye. Since certain bowl affiliations are still in place for the quarterfinal round (the Big Ten champ will play in the Rose Bowl and SEC champ in the Sugar), the Broncos are probably locked into the Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Eve.

Great game all around by the Broncos last night. The offense (and play calling) was suspect in the second half and as usual Madsen had a couple of real head scratcher throws after a superb first half. But the defense was stout. Too funny that UNLV got a 87 yard run to the BSU 5 then failed to score. UNLV is one of the worst teams in the country in the red zone and it sure showed last night.
I think Mike is correct. Fiesta Bowl against the PSU vs the ASU - ISU winner. As the top tier team goes I actually like PSU. Good matchup for us.

If Penn State loses, no chance they remain the 5th seed. The committee won’t punish them by making them go on the road in the 1st Rd for losing a 13th game, but they could drop as low as #8 if Georgia beats Texas.

Penn State would beat you by double digits
Also a chance you play ND. Also a double digit loss.
Guess what? We are in. All you can hope for. Play the game and see what happens. But feel free to bash away. LOL

This one might be over. Can’t say enough what a remarkable job Kenny Dillingham has done with this program. He may have just edged out Cignetti for NCOY.
