One of the best things in hockey is a tied 3rd period in Game 7 of the playoffs. Got one coming up right now in Boston v Toronto.

OT GM7 in Hockey IMO cant be topped as far as drama. And I dont watch hockey but man do you know drama when you see it.

Then tune in to this one if you haven't yet, cuz we're just over 7 minutes from that. 3rd period has already been epic.

"So often, these overtime games end on a strange bounce or a rebound."
ESPN announcer Sean McDonough, just moments before the Bruins scored the sudden death goal off a fortuitous ricochet from a dump-in. If you are making a list of the most tormented fanbases in North American sports, the Maple Leafs would have to be in the Top 5.

It's Edmonton vs Florida in the Cup Finals. Certainly not what the networks wanted, but I think it's good for the NHL. It's a chance for many to watch Connor McDavid for the first time, who might be the NHL's best player right now.
Pointless Fact: The two cities are 2,541 miles apart by air, and that will be the furthest distance ever separating two teams competing in a Cup Finals.
A More Interesting Fact: Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch took over the job midseason after they fired Jay Woodcroft. If the Oilers win the Cup, Knoblauch would become the 6th NHL coach to win it since 2000 in the same season he took over midseason. The others:
2019 Blues, Craig Berube
2016 Penguins, Mike Sullivan
2012 Kings, Darryl Sutter
2009 Penguins, Dan Bylsma
2000 Devils, Larry Robinson
Got into a Twitter discussion over how many times that's happened this century in other pro sports. Could only come up with this list:
2016 Cavaliers, Ty Lue
2006 Heat, Pat Riley
2003 Marlins, Jack McKeon
Riley actually did the feat twice in his career, having also took over the Lakers midseason in 1982.

Good to see a Canadian team in the final. Hopefully the Oilers can finish the job.

A spirited Game 3 comeback attempt by the Oilers came up short, and barring a miracle it will be 31 years and counting since a Canadian team last hoisted the Stanley Cup.
