2024 MLB General Talk (Dodgers Win WS)

I saw the clip of his ball he "threw" at the dugout. Manny certainly brings alot of this on himself, but that instance has been overblown.
There was no reason for him to even toss a ball at the other dugout. That's garbage Manny. His base running move in game 2 where he caused Freeman to make the throwing error was good edgy Manny. He's just a bush player at his core.

Postgame D. Ortiz was saying Buck practiced that with Manny when he first came up. You think Hyde is talking to young players about small things like that. Lol.

That stuff is like hieroglyphics to the nerds in the analytics department. I firmly believe that Hyde takes his matching orders from that office.

Im def starting to feel like the FO is too much like bots. They need to show feel. 1st test they failed by not firing Hyde

I know that Hyde is not your guy, and that's cool. Like some others on the board, I am kind of ambivalent on him. Also, I give him a pass as a result of the wave of injuries that occurred this season.
That said, the Orioles will have a contender next season based on what Elias has been able to build. If the Orioles don't make the playoffs, or they don't have some success in the post season next year, I will be fully on the "fire Hyde" bandwagon.
I may have told this story before on these boards. But I played summer ball with and against a guy who worked in the Orioles organization for about thirty years. In addition, we both played ball at the same junior college, but at different times.
I spoke with him at a reunion of sorts about a year ago. He likes Hyde, but he told me that Hyde literally has a book/report that directs him on how to manage in virtually every situation during every game. So there is really no room for managing by " feel." I think that this approach is prevalent amongst most teams in MLB.

Dodgers shut out the Padres in Game 5 of the NLDS. San Diego failed to score a run in the series after their six-run outburst in the second inning of Game 3. Their 24-inning scoreless streak is the fourth-longest in MLB postseason history.

Reg season is too long. Players need more rest and I hate that your playoff life can be over in 2 games.
Or go back like the old days and have the best AL team play the best NL team in the WS as the only playoff round. But we know thats not happening.

I'm down for shorter regular season (not happening $$$$) and longer postseason series. I'm not down for 16 playoff teams, that's way too many. I thought 4 per league was the best (even though I loved 2012). Mostly indifferent to 5 vs 6 but would dislike any more.

Don't shorten the regular season and go back to the wildcard play-in.
But the only changes that will happen is more playoff teams.

I dont have much of an opinion on how many playoff teams make it but its inevitable that both the NFL and MLB will both eventually get to 8.

Yeah no changes are happening unless it increases revenue.
The only thing I can see happening is expanding the WC series to best of 5 and every other series best of 7.

That game last night was awesome. Can't imagine the energy in that place. I want that so badly.
Don't think you'd have made it past the Judge homer:)

Maybe MLB will see the merits of real extra inning baseball and bring it back to the regular season.
Yeah maybe get rid of the T-ball rule they put in place where a ghost runner is magically placed on 2nd base. Most stupid rule in all of sports, any sport.
