I want to say it was the Dolphins job when it was open? I don't know that he was any sort of serious candidate, I just think there was a rumor that he had expressed interest. And he's made comments about how the recruiting game has changed and is no longer about relationships but about money. And he's not wrong about that point, and it does put any coach for MD football at a disadvantage.
I think he's done an OK job for what he was brought here to do. Honestly better than I expected. I don't think the administration cares that much about results at this point so regardless of the contract he'd probably be here a few more years anyway.
Yeah, I think everyone is fine with mediocrity with regard to the football program. Win enough against the lesser opponents to make some low end bowl games and everyone is happy.

I think we've seen the ceiling. 7-8 wins is about the best he can do.
The irritating part is that with the team he has and the friendly schedule, 9-3 felt realistically within reach this year. Yes, that would have been an outlier compared to other years, but you have to seize those opportunities when the stars align....and those stars will probably align far less frequently when the four teams out West join next year.

I think it is a lot of things with Maryland.
1. I am not a coach killer, but Locks is at best mediocre as a coach and the staff, seems to sit in the same range. THey never seem to make adjustments in game or even in season. The running game has been bad all year and they seemingly have done nothing to help it.
2. The offensive line is always over matched against good teams or well coached Dline opponents. The defensive line while better than their team mates is not good enough.
3. Lack of discipline. It seems like the same guys. Maryland needs to utilize the bench to send a message. Again, mediocre coaching. I am trying to be kind.
