BSL: With a little bit of luck and skill, the Ravens defense has been quietly elite

Certainly can't complain so far. I never thought the defense would be an issue with the team and have always felt good about it, especially since Smith arrived last year. If they don't make the play-offs or flame out in the post season, it won't be because of the defense.

Agreed. The defense has been incredibly strong so far. Additionally considering that DVOA adjusts for all teams, it's holding up pretty well. Pressbox's Bo Smolka also put up some encouraging numbers about Baltimore's offense.
From Bo:
"The #Ravens updated league rankings on offense: Overall: 13th (335.0 yards/game) Rushing: 4th (151.3) Passing: 26th (183.8) Also: 1st in red-zone efficiency (80.0 pct.), 9th in yards per pass play (7.0), Lamar Jackson 7th in passer rating (104.2)"

Red zone efficiency and Lamar's passing completion percentage has been pleasant surprises. Hopefully, that can continue.

I still hate the term "elite". I just want them to keep winning.

If Monken stays with a more conservative approach with his passing scheme, I'd imagine Lamar will hold a high completion percentage. I do believe teams are starting to sit on the short passes. Hopefully Monken starts to take advantage and can hit some double moves over the top. To Lamar's credit, outside of his terrible INT in week 1, I don't really remember Lamar making any other really bad passes. When he's been asked to hit more difficult throws, he's been on point. He made a handful of elite throws when he had to Sunday.
