Kjerstad being on the playoff roster is the one that interests me here. Kind of strange that he's started just one of the four games in this series despite already hitting a long ball. Makes me think they just wanted him to get a taste of big league pitching rather than actually prepare him to contribute in the playoffs but I guess you never know.

I doubt he makes the postseason roster. Though possible if more injuries or if Mounty doesnt make it back

When his teams were competitive, Buck was always fond of late season call ups (the prospects that looked like definite future every day players) as a way to let them have a low pressure introduction to pennant chase baseball. I always thought that was a smart idea.

Good news! I saw a dog today.

I always thought the opposite. He's been quoted a number of times saying he hates it. Paraphrasing but, "You play by one set of rules for five months then get to play by a different set of rules for the last month. It makes no sense".

I don't know how to reconcile what his actions were, with the comment you're referencing.

Pretty easy to do so.  Buck hated the rules that allowed for a bunch of extra guys on the roster (especially so when it was 15 extra guys instead of 2).  Given the rules, he liked using some of that the roster bloat to expose young prospects to a stressful September experience without having to rely on them performing.
