Law had him ranked #44:
Mac Horvath3B, OFNORTH CAROLINADOB:01-28-2002HEIGHT:6-1WEIGHT:195Scouting ReportBats: R, Throws: RHorvath has plus power with a lot of hard contact, and his swing puts the ball in the air a ton for extra bases, but concerns about his strikeouts and lack of track record have raised some doubts about his hit tool. He’s a solid athlete who plays right for the Tar Heels, with 2024 prospect Vance Honeycutt in center; Horvath spent his first two years at UNC playing third base, with the outfield a much better fit. He does strike out more than most teams like, with no two-strike approach, and some scouts question whether his swing will allow him to keep that rate from spiraling in pro ball. Even with those concerns, he doesn’t whiff that much, taking too many strikes rather than swinging and missing. Horvath did scuffle at the end of the season, only pulling his average back over .300 with a 3 for 5 performance in the Heels’ final game, which isn’t going to assuage any concerns about his hit tool. He offers first-round upside but needs to get into the right system.

There some other solid college hitters still available at that spot that they chose him over. Phelan can correct this if Im wrong but I think I saw something on his feed that said Horvaths contact rate is good and he doesnt swing outside the zone much. So I guess he doesnt swing enough?? Goes down looking too much??
Dan O Dowd specifically said he has a lot of swing and miss though so who knows. Im not the biggest O Dowd fan.
The Law blurb a couple posts up says he doesn't whiff much, takes too many strikes. So maybe if they can improve his swing decisions...

Lol
I mean any MLB team not looking at EV’s and contact rates are quite foolish. I’m immersed in EV’s and contact rates as the proud owner of a 7th (out of 10) place roto fantasy team.

Could sneak into the top 10 by seasons end? MLB pipeline has him 12th behind McDermott and Povich. Could definitely surpass Povich.
