BP is up there in K/9, HR/9, xFIP and WAR. Most teams dont have a dominant guy like Bautista and Cano has been so far. They got some Bakerish types as their top guys.

Has Cano been dominant so far?  He definitely stared out that way, but in his last 9 appearances, he's gone 10.2 innings, and given up 14 hits, 4 walks, and 4 earned runs, with only 8 K's.  He hasn't had a clean inning in any of them.  Not really that great.

Overall still dominant yes. He was the leader is RP WAR very recently. Prob isnt anymore. Going forward who knows but our overall numbers are what they are because of the dominance of him and Felix

The interesting thing about Cano was last night was not the recent Cano. He struck out a few guys. His K numbers had been dropping. He walked a guy. He never walks guys. The hit he gave up was on relatively weak contact. A lot of the balls of late have been hit hard. It wasnt an overly discouraging outing. The walk killed him and Adley not making a strong throw.

I haven't read through the whole game thread but I think the decision to ask Mateo to bunt in the 10th inning was a poor one. With the new rules and the zombie runner in extra innings, the road team should be looking to score at least 2 runs and not play for just 1 run. This doesn't even take into account the fact the supermajority of hitters in the modern era have terrible bunting technique and generally can't get a bunt down if their lives depended on it.

Let's just say we had pushed across the run, Hyde said he would've brought Bautista back out for the 10th. Even though Bautista can easily K the side, he can't hold runners and is certainly capable of burying a 58 foot splitter. A stolen base then a wild pitch to tie the game wouldn't have been a far fetched scenario.

I don't know.....I guess I live by the Earl Weaver school of baseball; never play for 1 run unless that 1 run is going to win you the ballgame.

With Bautistas K rate bunting was absolutely the right thing to do. Tough to steal 3b. I knew he would come back out if we scored so with that in mind you play for 1.

Def advantage home team once Extras hit. The home team knows when they come up how many they need and how to proceed after getting the free runner on 2b. In general I think the road team has to try to get the 1. Where you are in the lineup makes a difference too.If you fail to score that run in the top of the inning its a huge swing to the home team. Was watching the live line last night. When 10th started Os were slight favs. They were like -130 or -140 and Milwaukee was +120. After failing to score in the top of the 10th and heading to the bottom of the 10th tied Milwaukee was -350.

I liked the idea of moving the runner to third.  I don't like the idea of doing it with Mateo, because he is not good at it.

As for Felix, I will take my chances with him, anytime, everytime.  He threw 11 pitches and the Brewers did not make any contact.  They would have tried to steal, and maybe he would have bounced a pitch but he easily could have blown the Brewers away again.

Mateo is the guy who has to get a bunt down. Period. He swings a wet noodle. You arent gonna bunt with Adley or Santander. Not Hays the was he is swinging right now. Mateo is the guy to bunt with and if he cant do those things gtfo. Ive been as big a supporter of him as you will see. Love the speed. Love the range. But the bat has to be something and he has to not have the basic errors in the field too.

Mateo gotta have a real short leash with Ortiz at the door and probably Holliday by sometime next season.

Obviously O's don't value Westburg at SS long-term or he'd probably been here by now.
