My bar for feeling safe about a lead is at least 10 points, with less than 61 seconds left.

So there’s your signature win. Now go get the double-bye.

What Kevin Willard has done in his first year here is so impressive.

Can't wait until he gets his guys here.

And not to dance on Mark Turgeon's proverbial grave but the product under Willard is just miles better than it was under Turgeon.

Willard will be the first head coach in Maryland history to get his team to the NCAA Tournament in his first season at the helm.

How long has it been since we've seen a Maryland team improve as the year went on?

Man, huge win! KW is really impressive, loved holding up the game letting Purdue get off the court before the students rushed! If this guy is as good a recruiter as he appears to
be as a coach then the sky is the limit for this program!!

It was 10 years ago today that Maryland knocked off #2 Duke at home. Please keep scheduling Top 5 teams on February 16th.

It's basically all I've wanted to see for years. Have always admired Izzo for how his squads usually finish their seasons. Would be cool if that's the Willard story going forward too...

Maryland jumps up to #17 in KenPom’s rankings, and is now projected to win all of their remaining games.

Too long. And it makes me wonder what it was that made them fade down the stretch so frequently in the past, but obviously there was always one common denominator.

I really thought this team would fade too, but primarily due to the lack of depth, and I guess they still could. But the remaining schedule is sure favorable. Just NW looks tough and it's in CP. Knock on wood, but it's reached the point where you start thinking about seeding instead of bubbles.

Wow. Thought they had a good shot but didn't expect anything like that. Fantastic run to take control.

Expected guys had big games, but Emilien and Martinez really made some big contributions when things were at risk of getting out of hand in the wrong direction early on.

Also thought Willard using his timeouts pretty liberally in the first half helped prevent a Purdue run and possibly getting buried.

It’s sort of an indirect statement re: how far the program had fallen that the fans rushed the court, but holding that 7’4”, 300 lb behemoth to only 50% shooting (career 63.1%) has to be considered a job well done.

Agree also that this was their signature win.

Not only that he seemed disinterested at times in that second half barrage. I think Reese stole an easy offensive board from him. Was slow on defense too. MD guys drove right past him to the rim a couple times. He looked worse than Alex Len out there.

Edey really doesn’t have anything but height, free throw shooting, and a halfway decent hook shot. He doesn’t throw his weight around at all, has no jumpshot, and is an extremely bad passer. He got lost defensively underneath the basket a bunch tonight.

He’s a fine college player, and can dominate at times against less physical opponents. But will have no NBA career to speak of.
