Following an 18-point victory over Wisconsin on Wednesday night, Maryland will stay home to face off against Nebraska on Saturday afternoon. The Cornhuskers currently hold a record of 10-11 (3-7), and have lost five of their last seven games. Their three conference victories came against Iowa, Minnesota, and Ohio State. Fred Hoiberg is in his fourth season as their head coach, and his team has already won as many games this year as they have in any of his previous three.
Offensively they're led by their big man, 6'9" senior Derrick Walker. He's averaging 14 points and 8 rebounds per game. Injuries have bit the team recently, as they've lost starters Juwan Gary and Emmanuel Bandoumel for the season. One thing to note is that they're playing with a much slower pace offensively this season. Through Hoiberg's first three years, they were typically one of the fastest teams in the country. This year, they rank in the bottom third. Nebraska's biggest strength is their defense. While they typically struggle to score, their defense is a Top 50 unit nationally.
Maryland is 9-2 against Nebraska in the regular season since joining the conference, with their last loss coming in the 2017-18 season.
