Is last four byes the teams that are in, but not having to play the play in games in Dayton? Last four in would be those teams?

 

Seems like a dumb name. I thought they did away with calling the play-in games the "first round" because it insinuates 60 teams get a bye. Or a 16 seed beats a 16 seed and they "have advanced past the first round for the first time in school history" but not really. 

 

They call in the "First Four" now. Kinda silly, but I guess they don't like the play-in term either, since four of the participants are pretty much always conference champions who were supposed to get an automatic bid.

This is their resume based on NET, basically 4 solid wins, 2 decent-ish wins and currently no bad losses. Sweeping Minnesota ensures nothing on their resume that can really ding them.

That's the first time I've ever heard anyone (going back to UMass and Marcus Camby) that Cal was a good 'coach.'

I ask myself, would Mark Turgeon get the results Cal is getting with Cal's players? The answer is clearly no. And I run down the list of coaches that would get Cal's results, and I find myself with a fairly short list. He's not the best coach in terms of developing and in game tactics, but I think that aspect of his game is grossly underrated because his recruiting is far and away his most valuable asset, and because that asset also comes with it the perception of a slimy used car salesman.
