Pele will always be remembered as the "King" when it comes to soccer. I got to see him play in person in a match in the original Yankee Stadium back in 1976. What a treat that was.

RIP

Heard on the radio this morning that his last ever professional match was here in Portland, when he was with the NY Cosmos. When it comes to players who were most iconic in their sport, you can probably place him in the pantheon with the likes of Babe Ruth and Michael Jordan.

Don’t a lot of people think Maradona was as good if not better or am I misinformed?

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

There are certainly a lot of people who think Maradona was one of the best. And they aren't wrong. The difference is that Pele was way ahead of his time. His ball control skills showed the world how it should be done.
