If you want him on the team in the role for someone like Vavra, OK. But you can just have Vavra for much cheaper.

I think he's a defensive upgrade over Vavra with a bit more positional flexibility (could play SS in a pinch, though that's not depth we need with Gunnar and Urias on the roster).  No issue with him being rostered, but wanted a much bigger upgrade as an everyday player.  Trea Turner would've been ideal, except the cost.

As I've said before, I'm never going to be in favor of what I know of the process that brought Frazier here but the results have been surprisingly really good so I'll take an L on that, at least to this point.

The process was to not just hand rookies full time jobs out of ST. Let them break in slow. Its working out perfectly. He, like Gibson, is giving Elias everything he wanted from him when acquired. Now with Gibson, there were clearly realistic upgrades to him avaliable in FA. So thats actually the bitching that makes more sense to me. There just was nothing at 2b and you get the added bonus of a LH stick too

I absolutely hated the deal, but the guy seems like a gamer and has good contact skills which was severely lacking on this team.  I'm amazed to say it but if I need a big hit or just a guy to make some contact and have a good AB he's at/near the top of my list.

 

I'm coming around to 2035's point above about easing in the young kids slowly.  I feel Gunnar is starting to rumble.  Let's see if he can bust out here soon.

+1. I expected him to be much worse hitting so I’ll admit I was wrong there after 30% of the season. Still dislike the process.

Frazier has doubled his HR total from last year already, has a career high walk rate and career low strikeout rate to date. I neither hated nor loved the signing but so far so good. Definitely adds to the P/PA for the team.
