Following their biggest win of the season thus far over Illinois, Maryland will face Wisconsin on Tuesday night in their first conference road test of the year. The Badgers currently hold a 6-2 (0-0) record, with close losses to Kansas and Wake Forest on their resume. They've picked up close non-conference victories over Marquette, USC, and Dayton. All of their last five games have been decided by five or fewer points, with two of them going to overtime. Greg Gard is in his eighth season as their head coach, and after being named as a three-seed in the NCAA Tournament last year, they were upset by Iowa State in the second round.
Wisconsin is led by senior forward Tyler Wahl, who's averaging 15 points and 7 rebounds per game. They have a young but talented backcourt made up of sophomore Chucky Hepburn and freshman Connor Essegian. Both are averaging more than 10 points per game while shooting above 45% from beyond the arc. As a team, they shoot a poor percentage overall but rely heavily on their three-point shooting. They typically play very good defense, and run one of the more methodical offenses in the country.
