4-star QB Michael Van Buren (Baltimore, MD) has decommitted from Oregon. He chose the Ducks over Penn State and Maryland earlier this year, so worth keeping an eye on him.
He committed to Mississippi State, which is....a commitment, I guess.

Forgot to keep an eye on it.
I pretty much ignore football recruiting until signing day. Appreciate the updates Zack and others give on here but none of it means much of anything.

3-star OL Logan Bennett (Baltimore, MD) has committed to and signed with Maryland. He’s a former Michigan State commit, and also had an offer from Colorado.

3-star DB Larry Tarver, Jr. (Miami Gardens, FL) has committed to Maryland. He had initially been committed to Florida International, but Locksley was able to flip him after hosting him on campus over the weekend.
He had offers from Louisville, Miami (FL), Texas A&M, and others.
Tarver, Jr. has flipped and signed with Nebraska.

While it looked as if Maryland had flipped 3-star LB Jeremiah Marcelin, he stuck with Pittsburgh and signed with the Panthers.
Two more local flip candidates to keep an eye on in the next few hours: 5-star OL Jordan Seaton and 4-star DB Braydon Lee. Seaton is committed to Colorado, but a number of schools have been attempting to flip him over the last few weeks and he visited Maryland last weekend. Lee is committed to South Carolina, but is another player Locksley has been targeting.

Lee has officially committed to and signed with Maryland, flipping from South Carolina. 247Sports ranks him as the 24th-best cornerback in the country, and the 13th-best player from the state of Maryland. In addition to the Gamecocks, he held offers from Alabama, Georgia, Notre Dame, and Ohio State, among many others.
Mike Locksley has a track record of making big splashes with blue-chip recruits on National Signing Day, and that continues this year.

4-star DB Kevyn Humes (Baltimore, MD) has committed to Maryland, and becomes a late addition to the 2024 class. He's ranked as the 27th-best cornerback in the class nationally, and the 12th-best player from the state of Maryland. Had offers from Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, USC, and Tennessee, among others.
He was initially a 2025 recruit, but re-classified about a month ago in order to sign before the February deadline. In addition to being a cornerback, he was an excellent kickoff and punt returner at St. Frances Academy.
Maryland now holds the #32 composite recruiting class in the nation (between freshmen and transfer portal additions).

K/P Christopher Pond (Baltimore, MD) has committed to Maryland. While traditional recruiting sites typically don't rank specialists, Kohl's (the gold standard for specialist rankings) ranks him as the 60th-best kicker and 45th-best punter in the country. Additionally, he's ranked as the #1 kicker and #2 punter in the state.
With openings at both spots in College Park this year, he'll be a strong part of those competitions during the summer.

3-star DL Dimitry Nicolas has committed to and signed with Maryland. He becomes another in a growing list of Signing Day flips executed by Mike Locksley, as he was committed to Auburn until today.
I can see why a defensive player wouldn't want to go to Auburn now.

DJ's landed on his feet pretty nicely. Wonder if he'll get another shot at head coach at some point, maybe at a smaller D1 or FCS program.

Yep. He's 46, and since he's left he's been with the Falcons, Ole Miss, Texas A&M, and Auburn.
Would think it's only a matter of time until he's a HC again, and I'm thinking it will be Power Conference job.

I think its a joke that he's ever coached again after the way he ran things here and what it led to. But I also know that nobody in athletics at this level actually has a conscience and will find a way to excuse almost anything if they think it gives them an edge. So while its a joke, its not unexpected.

I don't share that opinion. But we've rehashed it a thousand times. Let's hope the Auburn flip becomes a good Terp.
