Following their hard-fought loss to #2 Ohio State last weekend, Maryland will finish off their season at home against Rutgers on Saturday afternoon. The Scarlet Knights currently hold a 4-7 (1-7) record, with their lone conference win coming against Indiana. They've lost seven of their last eight games, and are coming off of a 55-10 home loss to Penn State last week which officially eliminated them from bowl contention.

Maryland opens as 14-point favorites in this game. ESPN gives them an 88.2% chance of winning.

It’s not out of the question we could come up short of the 82 bowl eligible teams to fill all the bowl games. In fact, it might even be likely they’ll need a couple 5-7 teams. So Rutgers might have something to play for other than pride. They need only look back to last year to see how that worked in their favor, with a big assist to COVID, of course.
