Following an ugly loss to Wisconsin, the Terps head back on the road to face #14 Penn State on Saturday afternoon. The Nittany Lions currently own a 7-2 (4-2) record, with losses to Michigan and Ohio State on their resume. They beat Indiana by a score of 45-14 in their last game.

 

ESPN gives Penn State a 77.9% chance of winning this matchup.

I read this morning that Maryland is 0-29 against ranked opponents, since joining the B10.  That will probably get worse this weekend.

Pretty sure Syracuse was ranked in 2019 when MD beat them, even though the Orange ultimately were not a good team. Very sure Texas was ranked both times MD beat them. Be careful what you believe on the internet. (Note: Maybe they meant ranked Big Ten teams? But you didn't specify that.)

 

That said, they aren't winning this weekend.

They haven’t beaten a ranked *conference* opponent since 2010, when they beat #21 N.C. State. They haven’t beaten a Top 15 team since 2007, when they beat both #8 Boston College and #10 Rutgers.

Obviously not pretty, but I think they have a better chance than people think this weekend. They’ve beaten Penn State in Happy Valley twice since joining the conference, and I still think the Nittany Lions are overrated. The team is always fired up for this game, going against DMV guys they’ve grown up with.

According to Locksley, Jarrett’s leg injury has no structural damage and he’ll be a game-time decision.

I wouldn't panic yet. NOAA says 7-8 mph winds with a chance of some showers. I'd trust them a lot more than some Penn State TV weatherman.
