Unless there's something about the lawsuit that scares players off, which I doubt, I don't see a confederate money situation here. Every player knows they are a team on the rise, and if they were to get a multi-year deal then they will likely be competing for a WS before the end of it. The offer just didn't meet the competition (or never existed in the first place).

I can't imagine MLB approving a move out of Camden Yards when their attendance isn't embarrassing and they are improving dramatically on the field.

Miami and Tampa are far more likely to move first.

This deserves it's own thread, but 2 things...

 

1) We have heard nothing from Mike Elias since before the Frazier signing and there's almost no reference to him and none directly....not Christmas, not New Years, not any of the signings...not even comments on IFA...and the first time he shows back up is playing second fiddle in a puff piece trying to prop up John Angelos. 

 

2) ...and this quote is great....should definitely be in another (existing) thread...

“Everything that we’ve asked for since I’ve been here,” Elias said, “to carry out the stuff that we need do to rebuild the team on the field, but also the infrastructure of the organization, everything that we’ve asked for in that regard, hiring, building a Dominican academy, building new offices in the warehouse, all that kind of stuff behind the scenes has been a ‘yes’ from this partnership group.”

Hmmmmm.  Anything missing on that list?  We covered down to "new offices in the Warehouse".

It's funny, if Bisciotti had done the same thing, LaConfora would be high pitched whine screaming about it constantly. While also roasting DeCosta and Sashi Brown who also apparently must have hit on his wife. Remember, we still have 3 weeks until pitchers and catchers report. Elias has plenty of time to acquire those impact players he targeted. He wisely waited until things cooled down. Get ready, now that MLK day has passed, he's about to pounce.
