Does anyone recall Elias' exact words about Rodriguez breaking camp?  I took Bob's post to mean that Elias had explicitly said that Grayson will be on the MLB roster.  Did he actually say that?  A bunch of people have recently hypothesized that Rodriguez would start at Norfolk, and I've wanted to reply that Elias already said that won't happen, but figure I better check my work first and confirm he actually said that since I didn't hear the interview myself.

I don't think he guaranteed it, but he said he definitely sounded like he expected GR to be in the rotation.

I know people will scream about the service clock issue, but with the 4 or 5 off days in April and what I think will be 125 inning max for Grayson, I could see them delaying his debut until May.

We were poised to bring Grayson up last June, so we were willing to start his service clock then. If we delay his debut until May, he would still throw at Norfolk but the organization could keep his stints short to control his innings. Thus saving bullets for the bigs.

Why would he say he is going to break camp. Definitively. I doubt that happened. Hes let it be known he was nearing a debut last year

Rodriguez will have a legitimate chance to break camp in the Orioles’ rotation. In fact, general manager Mike Elias told MLB.com’s Jon Paul Morosi at the GM Meetings earlier this month that he believes Rodriguez is “on the inside of the competition” for one of the five starting spots.

One thing that is all but set: Elias expects Rodriguez to begin the 2023 season in the Baltimore rotation.

Rodriguez said his approach throughout the offseason is to best position himself to make Baltimore’s opening day rotation, a possibility executive vice president and general manager Mike Elias said in October has “a very high likelihood.”

Thats more than I thought he said but still not definitive. And to be honest the Os shouldnt let what might be 20-30 innings of work likely cost them a year of service time.

It is very disrespectful to be talking about Grayson on Cole Irvin Day. You all can come over “next week” and then we’ll talk about Grayson Rodriguez being on the Opening Day roster.

Obvious the lease isnt being extended tomorrow. 11 months til the Os can walk away scot free. Dont worry though people around here have "heard things". Oh and we have cherries to put on top too. The new city will have the huge ole cake. We got cherries.

At least when the A’s move to Baltimore to take their place we’ll already be accustomed to the ridiculously low payrolls.

Hopefully, they'll bring ridiculously low ticket prices too.
