They finish shooting 49% from the field, including 45% from beyond the arc. Terps won the rebound battle, 30-28. Niagara failed to make a single three-pointer.

They played hard, and fast. Pressed early and often, kept turnovers low.Underwhelming??
Some prolonged scoring droughts, which is to be expected with so many new players this early in the season. They entered the game as 17-point favorites, and won by 21.
They’re going to struggle at times without a real big man behind Reese.

Young finished with 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.
Reese grabbed 7 boards, and scored 7 points. Had just one foul after his initial two came rather quickly.
Martinez and Emilien were the top two players off the bench, followed by Long.

He’s much easier to root for than Turgeon was, that’s for sure. Has already taken full ownership of the team, and the program as a whole.
I love how KW basically lived and died with every play. Loved the intensity.

Note to Kevin Willard: Don't do a paycheck game with Iona.

Did not see a play, and I find it hard to follow the game on radio, with Johnny on the call. Were they playing uptempo??

They started out that way and were that way at times - but KenPom slapped them with a 323rd ranking for adjusted tempo today. So I guess not, overall.

Willard said postgame that in a lot of his secondary rotations the players were doing Turgeon things on offense (lots of standing around, watching). Willard put that on himself, primarily because they had little, if any, practice time with those lineups together, so the players weren't certain what to do. That was probably the #1 thing he said they'll be working on.

They were moving quickly up the court in transition, but rarely shot the ball fast. Usually pulled the ball back and went into their half-court. So the numbers may not show it, but they were playing much faster than they ever did under Turgeon.
