Without looking, I'll bet he likely had more in one season than most modern pitchers in a career.

I think he had over 200 for his career, and he's not even in the top 100. Of course, it should be noted that most of the pitchers on that list pitched in the Dead Ball Era and even beforehand.

Wow. Different eras sure change the game.

You have to pencil Kremer and Bradish into the rotation at this point.

The starting pitching is trying to make the playoffs.

Great job by Kremer and some late offense.

What a gem.

We'll make this point in other threads, but if you're saying sign 2 starters, you're saying you don't trust Kremer and Bradish (and Wells and GRod and Hall).

Kremer's ERA is down to almost 3.00.  Could you trade him and his performance risk in a package (+Stowers, +Urias, +something) for a more dependable starter like Brandon Woodruff with 2 years of control left?  Probably.....but what's the difference between Kremer and Woodruff today?

Palmer really was a total stud in the 70s.

79 wins…3 more to go to 82.

And we have won the season series against the Astros.

2 FAs
Bradish
Kremer
Rodriguez

Rest of the guys in pen or Norfolk waiting for injury or ineffectiveness.

I don't see any conflict.

Wow. Different eras sure change the game.

Palmer also threw over 300 innings in four different seasons. The last 300 innings-plus season was by Steve Carlton in 1980.

As you said, different eras.

Means/Wells/Hall. All to BP or traded?

BP for Wells, BP or Norfolk for Hall. Means misses half the season minimum so we'll get to him when he's back until then he isn't a factor.

I'd pencil Bradish and Kremer in, they are clearly ahead as ST begins, but possible someone like Wells can pass them.

All these guys but Lyles got hurt this season at some point. So it's be a big mistake to only have 5 starters. Need 7 or 8. Go sign two FAs (or trade). One is an absolute must. They aren't trying if they don't add a good starter. The second guy can be cheaper.

IM starting to think they will add just one SP. An upgrade to Lyles. IM ok if they bring a guy like Lyles back in addition to a stud but on the other hand that 10 min can be better spent improving the offense.

Him, Baker, Krehbiel...those guys are fighting for 1 or 2 spots at most.

Bautista
Tate
Perez
Krehbiel
Baker
Voth
Wells
Akin
Wells
Hall

That's 10 guys. 8 spots. The top three are a tier, the rest is kinda mushy. I'd like to add another guy that fits in the top tier and then bump one other guy out.

There is quality glut.  Is that an oxymoron? Will be very interesting to see how Elias handles the roster this offseason with so many layers ML proven and or ready

They said tonight that Means won't be back until July. Thay need to add a TOR starter. This team deserves that.

1 legit ace and one stud position player.

Plus a good backup catcher and maybe an upper echelon reliever.

Don't cheap out on the first part. They should be shopping at the top of the market with the payroll situation as is.

If you compare Palmer's numbers against pitchers of today it's not even believable. It's amazing how much the game has changed.
