Yep :/ I turned down our tickets too. Too hard to trade for extras to take the kids, especially on NYE. Then I saw the game and was like damn.
Our friend went and then won the 50/50 raffle for over $10k.

Eked out a shootout win over the Pens last night. After a red hot December that's only their 5th win in January with 2 more games to go after the end of the month. After that it's a long layoff of the ASB and their team break with their next game not coming until February 11th. They don't need to as play as great as they did in December, but they do need to step it up again if they want to stay in the playoff hunt.

Last night was huge. 4 point swing. I was worried when they were outshooting so much and nothing was going in.

Ovie did his best to give that game to the Pens at the end of regulation with that brutal turnover in the defensive zone.

Max effort against the best team in the east, and then have to turn around less than 24 hours later and play again. I would have been more surprised if they had won. Schedule doesn't let up, tough matchup against the Canes on Tuesday.

They did have the longest break though, too. Definitely hate B2B’s in hockey, but at least they were well rested and it was semi regional. just very frustrating. They show legit playoff run upside but the can just fall so flat way too often.

Agreed. Love these uniforms. Too bad it’s only for this one game. They also have like 19 uniforms in circulation right now. Probably need to do some condensing from a brand saturation standpoint.
Too bad they have the better team. I’d rather have that then the better uniforms. When the Caps are good, they have both though.

Not full on. More of a retool. They had a LOT of pending FA they weren't going to resign, so getting something vs just letting them walk. Hopefully they've got a new coach next year too, but will be interesting to see how much of the youth gets full time roles next year to save payroll.
They can't trade their entire defense though so expect some to stay that they think they can extend. I think they work on Gustafsson, shouldn't be too expensive, and has been a nice surprise production wise. I expect a new coach is going to mix in some more defense only guys back there. Probably see Carlson - Fehver - AA - Iorio maybe Gustafsson and they bring in a FA is my guess. See Jensen getting traded, his advanced metrics are pretty good even though people want to say he sucks.
GK we are pretty set, and i expect their numbers get much better with a coach that has a more goalie protective system.
Forward you've got Ovi - Kuzy - Wilson - Oshie - Strome - Millano - Backstrom - Dowd. Will probably see a lot of McMichael, 2nd line LW looks like it's waiting for him. Lapierre should get a look. Lots of room there. But none of it matters if they keep treading this same coach out there. Him and his system need to go.
