You know it’s bad when Garceau is coming to your rescue.

Ricker, Did you see Phillip's? He gave Fairbanks a raft of ish. Also, Odor looked like he was ready to deck someone. That dude is scary in that type of situation.

Poor Melanie just had one of the worst calls I’ve ever heard on that Rutschman double. Didn’t realize it bounced into the stands… “the throw….. (long break)… no throw!” Garceau jumps in: “it went into the stands Melanie.”
You know it’s bad when Garceau is coming to your rescue.
Lol.

He looked understandably nervous.I missed the game, but looks like Hall just isn't ready.
He was pitching behind for the majority of the outing.
He did strike out the side in one of his innings of work.
Hyde said during the presser that the Orioles will be using out of the pen later this season.
Interesting.

The home plate Fletcher made it clear to both the Rays bench and Fairbanks that it was he who called the timeout.
Once Fairbanks started talking crap at Chirinos, he was then delaying the game and frankly could've been tossed for it. The fact he wasn't suggests Fletcher realized it was a little late in the windup to call time.
This is reason 763 why baseball's pretty stupid. The fragile little ego on that big, dumb fool (Fairbanks). That's the type of guy who will one day do something he later regrets.

I’m not 100% that fastball will play up here in a starters role. It doesn’t have a lot of movement. *SSS and I’m an idiot alert/disclaimer*
He's a RP. Ive been telling you guys that and I know its hot takish but IM pretty confident in that take. Or trade bait this offseason. Hes at the top of the list of our Top 100 guys Id move in a trade

It was one game. He just did not settle down. Making judgements after 3.2 innings is as wrong at todays strange call up and down.

At some point it has to click or you get left behind.Poor Melanie just had one of the worst calls I’ve ever heard on that Rutschman double. Didn’t realize it bounced into the stands… “the throw….. (long break)… no throw!” Garceau jumps in: “it went into the stands Melanie.”

Lots of nerves, so I won't base anything on today.
It's interesting that they're moving him to the pen with an eye on September up here. Also helps to limit innings.

I agree.
The young man was admittedly nervous. ( Almost overwhelming so.)
While I think it curious to use him a a reliever for the rest of the year, I'll trust management.
My prediction is that he'll work out of the pen in Norfolk and get a September call up and either piggyback with Voth and/or Watkins or help out as a lefty specialist.
Long term, I think he can be a starter in the majors. One start should not and will not determine his career path.

I saw very little myself. Obviously need more time and looks but I literally saw some scouting reports that said hed have some of the best raw stuff in the majors as soon as he was called up. Forget the control and command, that was expected, I expected to see better stuff.I only got to watch very little, but seemed like he threw a ton of utterly noncompetitive pitches. Being a little wild is fine, but when one of every 6 or 7 pitches just is a dead ball out of the hand, it's tough to fight back. Also seemed to come in clumps.
Lots of nerves, so I won't base anything on today.

Yeah, I know I was for this before it happened - but it’s their job to know if he’s ready. He’s been in a slump, and they call him up anyway and we lose a key divisional game and lose Vespi for another 9 days. They’re in a playoff race, but that can’t help this FO from conducting their little experiments.
I didn't think he was ready. I'm more convinced now. They didn't need to bring him up.
Mateo and some of the other success stories on the big league roster have only emboldened that mindset. Elias said in the booth a few days ago, Mateo is what happens when you “ fully embrace a rebuild”. Of course while failing to mention the cost associated with that. Was Mateo and a few nice BP arms worth the cost?
I’m done with the experiments. If they want to take a chance on some money ball projectable types, they need to hit on them. As the saying goes, welcome to the big leagues, Elias. It’s one thing to build while losing. This next phase will tell a lot.
All that said, I guess I’m still not fully over him not even remotely trying to go for it this season, but I still do trust him long term.
