I get the pack mentality feels like strength, but reality is what it is.

Yup, the pack mentality. Def what it is when you come up with some of your conspiracy theories.

Cmon folks. Let’s enjoy this together.
Well my point was I'm not rooting for the Yankees to beat the Mariners, I'd rather the Mariners win and let's see what happens.
Someone else was trying to throw shade.
Personally, I'm not impressed with the Yankees. Most of their team is pretty meh.....but they play their ass off and expect to win. They play with expectations. It's something the Orioles are going to have to learn sooner than later (given this season) because it's harder than playing the underdog.

This season is proving everything you think wrong, you have to figure out how to deal with it. Attacking me for being right seems immature. Maybe that works on twitter.

Minnesota currently leads the Dodgers, 4-2, in the top of the fifth.

Man, Yankees are starting to put together a decent stretch here of mediocrity. Ya love to see it.
What's crazy is that the O's record over the last 2 months is better than the Yankees. We've been the best team in the AL for quite awhile now. Unbelievable.

Yeah honestly I was rooting for the Mariners in that series.
I mean they just have such a soft schedule down the stretch, with the way they're playing, they would need to totally collapse to not get a spot. I just assume they're in at this point. So might as well chase the completely unrealistic dream that we somehow catch the Yankees. I know it isn't going to happen, but it's been a crazy year so why not dream.
That leaves 2 spots for us, TB, TOR, CLE/MIN and CWS. As of now I'm not totally counting BOS out but they need to get it together real quickly here.

8/10: Orioles PPD. Blue Jays PPD. Mariners won. Rays lost. Indians won. Twins lost. White Sox lost.
Orioles currently tied with TB for 6th seed! 2 GB of Toronto for 4th seed. 1.5 GB of Seattle for 5th seed. Tied with Cleveland (1st in division). 1 game ahead of Minnesota. 2.5 games ahead of Chicago.

I just learned this, and this is as good a place as any to point this out. There is no longer a game 163, there will be tie breakers. Tie breakers are:
1. Head to head record
2. Record in divison
3. Record in league but outside division
4. Record in last half of games in the league
5. Go back an additional game in the league until records are different
WTF re: 4 and 5?
The O's play an odd number of games against the AL East and White Sox (up 3-1 with 3 left), already lost the season series to the Twins and Mariners, and play an even number against the Guardians (1-2 with 3 left). So it's not likely to get past 1.

I'm so glad they're returning to a balanced schedule next year.
Good news! I saw a dog today.

14 games each versus division opponents (instead of 19). 6 games against each of the 10 same-league team. 3 games against each of the 15 other-league team (4 versus "rival" team).
