Who are you trading Gasol for?

Not sure. There were rumors of dealing him to the Bulls or just wherever a couple weeks ago and I was just wondering if there were currently any rumors involving him.

If the Heat had lost, dealing him for Bosh would have been something I would have been in favor of as a stretch 4 would make much more sense with Bynum, especially one who can fill in for Drew at the 5.

Otherwise, I have to look further into it.

BTW, not a ton of rumors. The Howard for Bynum thing will always be out there. The Sessions rumors are obviously a thing of the past.

I would imagine the Lakers would like to bring him back as their bench is depleted as is. Haven't heard anything concrete though.

I should add that Bresnahan is more for breaking news and FBG is better for analysis.

Heard rumors that Minnesota wanted Gasol, but with the Wolves' expected signing of Brandon Roy and $12 mil/yr offer sheet to Nic Batum, they probably can't send enough back to LA to absorb his salary. However, the Blazers have insisted they will match the offer, so maybe it could still work.

Derrick Williams, draft picks, and to make the cap numbers work Brad Miller and Martell Webster...who can both be waived after the trade since only a small portion of their salary is guaranteed. The move would be contingent on LA getting Howard first, and would be a big money saver when the new tax kicks in. But I think MN had to waive one of Miller/Webster to make the offer sheet to Batum. It looks like they're going to have to use the MLE to sign Roy.

Williams and two (not the cheapest combos) of Miller, Webster, Darko, Pekovic, Barea, Johnson, or Ridnour would work.

Interesting article that strengthens my thoughts that the Lakers aren't an ideal team for Nash to maximize his talents.

I mean sure it's not the most ideal situation (Nash likely is at his best playing with more athletic, run-first players, especially in the front court) but I have a real hard time believing he won't improve the Lakers' offense over what they had last year at PG (an ancient Fisher and Sessions who stunk for us).

If you could take each of them in their prime and put them together in the present, sure. As they are today, not so sure. The '85-'86 Celtics comes to mind. They started 5 guys who were All Stars at some point in their career, 3 of whom were All Stars that season. And the '86-'87 Lakers, with the 3 Hall of Famers plus Michael Cooper (Defensive POY) and a young A.C. Green.

While I personally don't remember them, another starting 5 that belongs in the conversation (and might even be the winner) would have to be the '72-'73 Knicks. They started 5 Hall of Famers: Dave DeBusschere, Walt Frazier, Bill Bradley, Earl Monroe and Willis Reed. You could have made an argument for the '62-'63 Celtics too if John Havlicek wasn't a 6th man.

I took it as if they were asking if it was the best Laker 5, and I do not think so. Any number of the Celtics were better. The Celtics that had Bird, Mchale, Parrish, Ainge and DJ IMO, was far superior. The Laker squad who had, magic, Perkins, Worthy, Cooper etc were as good.

The problem with guys making statements like that, is that they immediately discount all the early NBA teams.
