They could easily have decided in the past few days, we'll spend 1.4M on either McLean or Young. Whoever wants to sign, step up [or whatever similar amount accounting for the slot].

I'm sure Dude has done hours and hours of advanced scouting on everyone the O's drafted.

A  piece of me wants to know whats odd about every single pick. Like break it down for me pick by pick. Ill even read it all.

This thread will expand by 11 pages.

I think it would wind up more than 11 pages, but I'm not sure why.

I shared my macro pre-draft thoughts in the other thread (post #574, pg 29) and I shared my post daft thought there too (1204-1206, pg 61).

I may have chosen some different guys (Connor Preilipp signed for 1.83M, so we could have him instead of Wagner) but whatever.  I've said several times I don't have any issues with the draft.  They get judged on the results over time.

I was wrong about 2 picks.  While I (personally) would have picked Holliday or Johnson, I figured they would prefer the profile for Berry.  Elias drafted Birdsell in 2018 in Houston and would have had another shot at him this draft.  We know Mike holds onto his perspectives about who guys are.

Discussing things that were odd in this draft (not players, fwiw) doesn't make me less wrong.  I was wrong.  <<shrug>>

If I had bet on the quad (college bat) I would have been wrong (regardless of why) and I would have paid that bet.

So, I'm ok discussing my comment (2035 has challenged it twice), but I don't have an agenda or endstate because of the comment.  It's just things (comments/actions) seemed different in many ways as things played out.  Maybe there's a consequence, but there isn't one for me.  It's sort of like The Wall thread where you point out things that are OBVIOUSLY mis-aligned and people just lose their minds when you point it out.

I don't care about doing it either way. My comment wasn't random and I can back it up. It doesn't matter.  I'm not invested in it, so if we want to do this and we're on page 80 and people want to know why we're on page 80...it's because someone thinks that pointing out things that were odd in this draft actually aren't odd.  Again, I don't care either way.  The draft is the draft and time will tell.

So....???
