I feel like there was plenty of demand to take him in 2020, so I figured it'd be interesting to look at how he's doing right now, almost two years from the day of the draft

 

His career MiLB line, all in AA, is .263/.397/.364

 

This year, his line is .251/.362/.331 and his OPS ranks 47th among 54 hitters with 150 PAs in the AA Texas League

 

He also only has 1 HR in 175 ABs

IIRC there were also questions about position. His profile would be much less appealing if he slid down the spectrum.

 

He has played mostly SS this year after playing close to half each of CF and SS last year. Fielding percentage isn't everything but it's all I have, he has 11 errors and an .847 fielding % at SS after an .897 at SS last year. I know AA fields aren't great etc. but that frankly seems pretty awful, a lot of people around here complain about Mateo's .962. No idea if he's expected to be able to stay at either position but SS isn't looking promising unless he improves a lot.

I think Martin is a better prospect than Witt. Much higher floor and their ceilings are similar too.  post #154

Also, Keith Law had Martin as the best player.
