My complaint about Melanie Newman is that she never seems very interested in talking about what's happening on the field. She mostly just says general things about baseball and the players.

That may be by design. If you have ever listened to heron the radio, she really struggles describing what is going on. She is always a few seconds behind and even then it leaves the listener wondering what the hell is going on.
Maybe on TV she has decided to let the listener watch and limit her weakness. Bottom line, she should not be doing PBP.
On the good side, she is solid in the pre and post game stuff and does her homework.

She was really bad last year. Slightly better this year.
She and Garceau just never seemed into the game. You’re not calling a golf tournament.
