2022

Orioles vs. Yankees: 3-4, 26-27 runs scored

Orioles at Yankees: 1-3, 21-31 runs scored

Almost identical at home, but work to do on the road. Still...progress!

They’re a ways off from that level, but I appreciate the effort vs. the Yankees this year. They aren’t just rolling over. Same with the Rays, already more wins vs. then this year than all of last year. But by the end of 2022, I don’t expect our season performance against either club to be good overall, but I expect the games to be good and the O’s to steal a few here and there.

It was nice hearing Boone on MLB network this morning, complaining about Cole being dominant, but explaining us getting 5 runs off of him as weird.   Boone is an ass.

He's an ass, but he's right. 11 K 0 BB doesn't usually come with 5 R. Certainly weird. Baseball is always great that way.

Boone is being roasted for that comment by Yanks fans too! Hilarious!

Yes he is, but the constant complaining and whining, makes him one entitled SOB.  Their entire tem starts on the umps in the first inning and stays on them.  Cole IMO, was getting pitches that the Orioles were not getting.  That gets tough to watch.

I'm curious, and I mentioned something about this in the other thread...I get the Yankees record....but is anyone really that impressed by their team?

If you like their 3B and SS....they both could have been Orioles....if you think they are a difference.

Stanton could block any deal (I think) but I guarantee that NY would like to move that contract.

The Orioles were credited with being a top team in the early power rankings and the Orioles were at the bottom....yet, they've basically been competitive in almost every game.

Winning is more than Talent.

Like most teams the O's are going to win some games they have no business winning and lose some they have no business losing. I don't think playing the Yankees tough in May means much. As competitive as they've been against the Yanks, they're still 11.5 back and in last place on May 24th. Kudos for how they've played against them though.

I'm just talking about the Names on the roster.  Does anyone think it's some crazy All-Star team?  In fact, who has a crazy All-Star team?  Anyone?  Is there any roster you(anyone) are really impressed by?

That's this constant issue...everyone says you can't compete because we don't have 4 All-Stars or whatever....who has that?  There's only 15 teams in the AL....if we had 4 All-stars....goodness...how would anyone else compete?

I have no issues with the future.  There is zero projection that the Orioles will (ever) have a 90+% opportunity to make the playoffs and I don't care how good we are.  You are in a competitive Division with Teams trying to win, but they have the same issues when you (the Orioles) are trying to win too.  Anything can happen.

The Orioles have played some competitive Baseball...but you aren't adding the weight of the Minor League System to the Major League roster....you replace one guy with one guy, you don't get both....but 'how we play' today isn't specifically related to the future because we haven't even started to try and play with expectations yet.  That is a whole different animal.

Not sure why you're presenting 4 All-Stars as some unbeatable juggernaut. Nearly a quarter of the league has 4 or more guys make the All-Star team each year.

2021:
Boston (5), Chicago WS, Houston, Toronto, Los Angeles (5), Milwaukee (5), San Diego (5), Washington

2019:
Cleveland, Houston (6), New York Yankees (5), Colorado, Los Angeles (5), Milwaukee (5)

2018:
Boston (5), Cleveland (6), Houston (6), New York Yankees, Seattle, Atlanta, Milwaukee (5),

Well said, and I agree. Not saying they will having winning records vs. either teams, but I don't think many were expecting them to be this competitive this early.

The 2016 Orioles had 5 All Stars.

2015 had 4.

2014 had 3.

2013 had 5.

2012 had 3.

If we're trying to look at that correlation between AS and great teams the 2nd best record in the AL had less than non playoff team the year before and after.
