The current mode of operation suggests they'll go from 55 quality to 92 quality in a season or two at most. Good luck with that.
Not improving where you can, as much as you can, at the major league level up front (or in the course of the "build")... They're working to start a fire, with no food to cook on it. Then if they ever get the fire started, then they'll try to go to the store, or at least that's the hope

Most other fans will cheer a 70-75 win team for what 2 months maybe 3 if the first half is good like in 2005. Either way when training camp rolls around its football time.
The Orioles need more fans like you. Most other fans aren't going to cheer when the team doesn't even try year after year before the season even starts because "they'll be competitive in <insert number here> years."

It all depends on the guys who are carrying the load that gets you to 70 wins. If its guys on 1 yr deals or at the end of their prime it means nothing for the seasons going forward.70 vs 55 should matter. If you get to 70, then the next year it's more likely you could get to 78. Then 84. And then maybe those three blue chip prospects arrive and improve the team a little more, and you're at 92. That's competitive. That's compelling. That's an August and September worth watching, buying tickets for, etc.
