Only threw 88 pitches though. Has to get to 95 if he wants to see the big leagues. Only with the Orioles could getting through 7 throwing 7 fewer pitches work against you.

If he’s not starting against Seattle Wednesday, this is Rutschman-level ridiculous.

Is Gunnar a speed guy?

Is Gunnar a speed guy?

12-13 in SB this year. 30-35 for his career. Phelan could probably elaborate but I'd venture to guess by these numbers he has good speed.

He’s more of a hustle guy who is a smart base runner. As he ages I’m guessing he’ll be fairly average in sprint speed.

FWIW Fangraphs has Gunnar at 50 speed now and 40 in the future. Many people think he will fill out and lose athleticism, thus why many expect him to stop playing SS.

For comparison, Fangraphs has Mateo 80, Mullins 60, Hays 55, Mountcastle 45, Santander 40/30, Adley 40/30, Urias 40, Mancini 30 (not sure if these are supposed to be current or were as of prospect graduation).

Baseball savant has Hays at 56th percentile sprint speed. Mountcastle at 58. Urias/Santander/Mancini 34/30/22. Mullins/Mateo 90/100

So I'd guess somewhere below the Hays/Mountcastle area, maybe below middle of the pack MLB. So that confirms what Bob said, not really a speed guy, more a hustle guy.

.859 OPS in May.

I'd pretty much be ready to move him to AAA... but he's just 3 of 29 vs LHP... if they'd like to see that improve before jumping him, I can get that.

Yep, be it a spot start with opportunity for more or the pen... that promotion is definitely coming.
Nice to hear that his fastball command has been improved so far.

Would like to see Kremer given another chance to start.... should be able to fit in the rotation and give guys like Bradish and Wells and even Zimmermann a little extra rest.

Would expect a promotion of him and Gunner relatively soon. Nothing really blocking them in AAA.

I'm not sure if Grenier is still supposed to be a plus fielder still but I think he has a chance to be 238/288/357 like Urias is. He always seems to be mostly poor as a hitter but then slowly trend towards average, which is fine if you're a good SS. Would clear space.

Grenier is likely still a plus defender at SS but my bigger question would be position versatility if youre looking at him in a uti role. Well the biggest question is the bat but position versatility from a defensive standpoint.

They need to do with Kremer what they did with Akin; make him a 2-inning guy out of the BP where he can possibly pitch with more velocity and doesn’t have to see the lineup more than once. Leave that 5th rotation spot for Rodriguez. Bradish, Wells and Zimmerman don’t need extra rest….they need to be able to get deeper into games.

Hall: 3inn, 3h, 2bb, 2ER, 6 K Still think he is ultimately a RP. IM sure someone like Phelan will push back on that. I understand why you keep him as a SP as long as possible but best case scenario is he is Blake Snell. He is a guy who is going to throw 130-160 innings a year.

Westburg:2-5, 2b
Henderson : 3-5 , 2 2b
Prieto: 3-4

Vavra 2-4, 2 2b Rehabbing in Aberdeen
