I have certainly been one to point out while a good job there are challenges that many fans seem to be unaware of or simply ignore.
“We have a shot at a wild card right now. But it is not a probability that we're going to win a wild card.” -2022 Trade Deadline
"It's liftoff from here" - after selling on 2022
"We're on a slight upward arc" - Winter Meetings 2022
"I think it's really hard to sit there and chart a course and say, 'We're likely to win the division.'" - Winter Meetings 2022

They sound pompous and out of touch.
I think that's being too kind. They shudder at the thought of Pearl, Miller or Pitino, which is fine taken alone....but once again, these very same people elected to reinstate DJ Durkin. So you can't help but interpret the takeaway as, staying out of NCAA trouble >>>> the health and safety of UM student-athletes. I just don't understand these people, and there needs to be a full housecleaning.

One thing that I don't understand is the regents are for the entire Maryland system, not just College Park, so I don't see how they have such sway over things specific to College Park aside from perhaps some budget things. But really what this means is when they say no to someone like Rick Pitino, they're really saying he can't coach anywhere in the state, not just in College Park.

There goes Towson trying to make a splash if Pat Skerry rides the regular season title to a promotion lol

Maybe it is because I am old, but I am glad they steered clear of Bruce Pearl who IMO at best is shady at at worst dirty.
Pitino, and Miller certainly fall in the shady category. As someone who lived through the Wade area, I am fine with skipping guys like this.
The more I read and hear from Willard, the better I feel. Time to see what he can do recruiting.

Yeah, Miller and Pearl’s infractions were things that are generally legal now. Pitino had a number of things like that as well, but hiring prostitutes for high school kids is still illegal the last time I checked.I'm not really sure how to grade people like Sean Miller for their NCAA violations given that what he did is by and large legal in today's NCAA thanks to the new NIL rules.
With regard to Pearl, he invited a recruit to a barbecue and tried to cover it up. Kind of questionable in terms of integrity but not at all in terms of impact.
Pitino is probably the biggest slimeball on this list.
