His cap #s are huge so that probably hurt his value if he’s just very good and not great.

Not sure how the injury was last year and if he’s supposed to be back 100%. Any injuries are tough after age 30.

They have the cap space.

Sure they do, but $30M and $28M cap hits probably hurt your trade value if you aren’t great anymore (not sure if he’s great anymore). If you aren’t a QB at least.

Team acquiring him won't have to account for any prorated bonuses.  He'll count $17.75M against the Chargers cap next year (I'm assuming they're responsible for the $5.5M roster bonus that is due).  I guess that's still pretty huge so goes to your good vs great point.

Chargers are making a big push to take advantage of Herberts prime years on a rookie contract.  They had the offense last year to compete with the top dogs in the AFC.  But that defense was horrible.  Trying at least to get it a serviceable level and hope their offense can do what KC, Buff, and Cincy can do.

Not that it's likely to be a game-changer this coming season, but Chicago is taking on $24 million in dead money this year by trading Mack. In 2023, however, they could be looking at as much as $120 million in cap space. The Bears being the Bears, they'll probably screw it up, but that's still a lot of cash to play with.

Interesting take, and I agree. It seems like the new HC/GM are willing to bite the bullet now and are playing the long game. If I were a Bears fan, I would be in favor of this move.

DaVante Adams being traded to the Raiders for their 1st round pick and another (not yet specified) 2022 pick.  Possibly other things involved.

Adams is signing a 5/$141.25M contract ($28.25M APY) with the Raiders.

Gets to reunite with his college QB.

Almost feels like GB is trolling Rodgers. Watch them use that Raiders pick to draft another QB.

Rodgers is said to have been kept aware of developments as they progressed. Green Bay was also reportedly willing to pay Adams what he received in Las Vegas, but Adams wanted out of Green Bay.

While I think it's funny that Rodgers loses his primary weapon after whining all last season, that is a lot of money for a receiver.

He did want out. He told them he wasn't going to sign the tag.
