I'll guess his seven locks are

-Verlander

-Scherzer

-Trout

-Harper

-Judge

-MCab

-deGrom

Shaky on deGrom because he hasn't been elite for very long -- my other guess would have been Wainwright -- now to check the results!

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Hard to believe that Scott Rolen is just the 18th third baseman overall to be elected to the Hall of Fame.

I guess that stems from an old prejudice that believed third base was not that important a position defensively. I would say that Brooks had a lot to do with changing that perception. Just as relievers now are no longer looked upon as failed starters, neither are third basemen views as inadequate shortstops.

Before Rolen's induction, only six third basemen have been voted in post-expansion era (1961)--Brooks, Mike Schmidt, George Brett, Paul Molitor, Wade Boggs and Chipper Jones. Ron Santo was voted in 10 years ago by a veteran's committee vote.
