After splitting the two games they played last week in The Bahamas, Maryland returns home for their toughest test to date against Virginia Tech as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Hokies come to College Park with a 5-2 (0-0 ACC) record, and lost their last two games to #9 Memphis and #25 Xavier in the NIT Season Tip-Off tournament. Their wins have come against Maine, Merrimack, Navy, Radford, and Saint Francis (PA).

Mike Young is in his third season as their head coach, and finished the 2020-21 season with a 15-7 (9-4) record and an overtime loss to Florida in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Sounds like students had been lined up outside the gates for most of the day today. Crowd could play a major factor tonight.

Fatts in particular seems like someone who might feed pretty well off a raucous crowd. Defensive intensity across the board is another thing that benefits when the arena is loud.
