After losing to George Mason on Wednesday night, Maryland has a quick turnaround before facing Hofstra on Friday evening. The Pride currently hold a 1-2 (0-0 CAA) record, with a victory over Duquesne and losses to Houston and Iona. Longtime assistant coach and former NBA point guard Speedy Claxton is in his first season as their head coach after the transition of former head coach Joe Mihalich to an advisory role in the university's athletic department. Under interim head coach Mike Farrelly (now an assistant coach at Penn State) last year, they finished with a 13-10 (8-6) record and lost to Elon in the semifinals of the CAA Tournament.
