CBS Sports: Four reasons 2022 is a crucial year for MLB's future, including the new CBA and ballpark deals

https://www.cbssport...ballpark-deals/

Both sides have a lot of work to do to get a deal done.

Real good article.

He is very bad for the game and IMO an ass.

It was probably easy, when the guy on the other side is Manfred.

This is a raging regional bias Baltimore fans have on Rosenthal. To the rest of us, he’s a harmless baseball reporter with at least some journalistic integrity (not like say, Jon Heyman).

Agreed. Another example of how confusing homerism is. People will discredit Rosenthal around here because he’s honest about the Orioles and their owner. So they view him as some enemy, when the real enemy is the guy he’s bashing, and the guy who is solely responsible for my misery as an O’s fan my 36 years on this planet.

Rosenthal is the best in the business by a mile (in my opinion), and a terrific guy as well. I interned for him many years ago when he had a local radio show, and it was a great time. He was so good to me personally, in fact, I owned a few racehorses at the time, and he brought his family to one of my horses first races at Laurel. I always appreciated that.

Anyway, no biggie, he's still going to write for The Athletic, and be the main reporter on the FOX broadcasts, so he'll still be easy to access.

Bad look for MLB Network, though the brass there likely had little say in the matter, as this clearly came from the Commish's office.

I actually sit somewhere in the middle on Rosenthal.  I do think at times, he is over the top on his criticism of the Orioles.  He and  peter Angelos had an ongoing battle some years ago, and I think at times he let that carry over now when he went on the national beat.  He is good at his job though and as we all have come to realize, Peter was a justifiable target with the way he ran the club.

When it comes to picking sides, between Ken and Manfred, it is easy to side with Ken.

I honestly thought, that after Kurkijan got into the HOF, this year Rosenthal's turn was coming, but I guess Comish Tight Ass, will block that.

Had a spirited debate at the bar tonight about Yadi Molina v Buster Posey.

Then I walked out into 20 degree cold.

I need baseball back.

Both HOFers but I think the correct answer is Posey

Not sure there is a wrong answer but I think Posey by just a little.

If Posey played another 5 years, to match the duration of Yadi’s career, this wouldn’t even be a question IMO. Posey the substantially better hitter. A winner just like Yadi. Great defensive catcher and game caller, but that is where Yadi is GOAT status probably and thus makes this a debate along with Posey playing 5 less seasons. Yadi’s career 41% throw out rate is just nasty, but Posey still very good at 33%. Still, it’s Posey for me. Higher and longer peak.

Yadi defense in all aspects is terrific. Just steals a ton of strikes for his pitcher. In addition to the arm and leadership qualities. Its what makes him a HOFer despite being a below avg hitter. All that said, if we are playing in a robo ump world some of that goes away and its a much harder case that he is a HOFer. Posey had a very good peak. Was a good defender in his own right. He finished his career as a .300 hitter. Thats insane for a catcher. Leasership also there and the best player on 3 WS championship teams

What are we arguing? Who’s the better all-around baseball player? Posey.

Who’s the better catcher? Yadier and it’s not particularly close.
