If Henderson and Hays and Hall are all multiple All-Stars then the deal would certainly sting.  Especially if Soto plateaus a bit and is only Carlos Delgado and not Miguel Cabrera.

 

But if the trade is just a fringe starting OF, a platoon 3B, and a good RP and Soto maintains his HOF trajectory, then you are thrilled to have made the deal.

 

The Miguel Cabrera trade always stands out in my mind.  Plenty of people thought the Tigers were crazy, they gave up two top-10 prospects at the time.  But Andrew Miller took a long time to become a shutdown reliever and Cameron Maybin has a long career but was just a fringe starting CF (his best year oddly was back in Detroit about a decade after the trade).

I don't have an issue with the contract portion of this, but I'm hesitant to part with significant young talent at this point. I'd rather they hit the free agent market aggressively even if that's a recipe for overpaying because the team is in (and had been in) a great position to overpay in dollars. Spend the money, keep the young talent.

The only guy I wouldn't include in a package for Soto is Grayson, because he projects to fill a hole that would be harder to fill than Soto.

Aside from that, if you asked me to take either Soto or the field for who has the better career out of anyone in the Orioles' system, I'm taking Soto.

Record low ratings for the ASG. I’m not surprised. I only turned it on briefly around the 6th inning. After 5 minutes I was just kinda, meh. Turned it off and went to bed.

Not gonna lie, I think the god awful uniforms they wear now have something to do with it. Aesthetically I like seeing all the teams regular jerseys and hats out there. But I know the reason for most is like anything else. Other options of things to watch.

I watched for a couple hours sort of.  The in game interview crap needs to go.  It's an unnecessary distraction from the actual game.  The same crap was done for the Orioles game on Peacock.  Hopefully it does not become a trend for regular games.
