Great article. I think you could argue that he has been more dynamic with his arm this season than he has with his legs.
I also think Andrews has improved a ton as well. He was already good, but now it seems as though he has taken a step towards being an elite pass catching TE. He gets open at will against man and zone. And to this point (knock on wood) he hasn't suffered from the focus drops he has had in the past. The emergence of Bateman would take this offense to an elite level, if he can become a dependable chain mover and YAC guy opposite Brown.

Yeah, I agree. I was a critic of his passing from the time that the Ravens drafted him. I just didn't think his consistency or accuracy would ever make him a great QB from the passing side of the game. This year he has definitely proved me wrong in a big way. It seems like the game has really slowed down for him. And that is very frightening for the teams facing him. He is definitely in that Peyton Manning realm where you are the one man that can take over a game and make an otherwise mediocre team look invincible.
All you have to do is look at the national press, the game preview trailers, and the highlights. Nobody else on the Ravens, with the exception of Justin Tucker, ever gets any face time. Everything is Jackson all the time because he has elevated a team that has probably only played 2 good games this year to 5-1.

Hes must watch tv. There is a reason 5 of our games this year are in primetime. Could be more if we get flexed in late in the year.
Yep...when he exploded on to the NFL scene in 2018, I knew prime time and a bevy of night games were in his future. It's really the only thing I don't love about Lamar Jackson because man, do I hate having to DVR games instead of watching them in real time.

I remember itching to watch Vick, Tomlinson, Moss, Manning ect. every time they were on primetime. I always wondered what it was like to have an offensive player on my favorite team that was a player you just had to watch. I finally know that feeling thanks to Jackson. I was a fan even at Loisville. Dude just has that "it" factor, where on any given play, he could turn it into an all time highlight. Love being able to finally cheer on a guy like that on my favorite team.

As great as they were, I dont even put Manning, Moss, Tomlinson in that must watch category. Vick definitely was for awhile. Barry Sanders was when I was a kid. The feeling that something amazing could happen any play is intoxicating. But yeah, having the most dynamic, exciting player playing on my fav team is awesome. I dont take it for granted either. I enjoy every week while it lasts.

I read the thread from that draft night not too long ago. Good times.
I questioned him as a draft pick because the ACC sucks, and he played pretty poorly against the few top teams he did face. But I was wrong and glad to be. And even if I weren't, he's such a great guy and leader and we're lucky to have him.

What do you think? You were pretty upset about us drafting Hurst over Moore. Lol.

Still am. But yeah that's stupid. The Ravens are one of the very best at this stuff. In a lot of ways, Lamar was a ballsy pick when you think about it. But you nailed it in your previous post. Not only did they draft him, they went to work right away to build a system for him that would give him a true shot. Huge organizational win, but Lamar is a freak too.

Its why I think organizations matter. In all sports. For some more than others. Most organizations wouldnt have gone to this length to build around one guy. Especially one that was supposed to be a WR/RB. They would have brought Lamar in and tried to make him fit their system. Not all. Some would be doing RPO and playing to Lamars strengths but to this extent. Im not buying it.

Although I like our WR's now, and it was nice they got what they did for Hurst. Still, DJ Moore is a stud. Imagine him and Lamar together. Damn.
I don't disagree. Moore is a great WR. I think the fact that Andrews is a great TE makes the Hurst selection look a little uglier as well. We could have even selected Derwin James at 16 and Jackson at 32 still. If they took Moore or James, that draft class would have included James/Moore, Jackson, Andrews, Averett, Zeus Jr and Bozeman. What a phenomenal final class for Ozzie.
Also, going back and reading all of the old threads on Jackson is pure entertainment. Rolltide's first ever post after we drafted him claiming he was 100% a bust and to remember he called it first, that still makes me giggle every time.

I disagree on Moss. Dude had a whole new verbal adjective created from what be did to people. Any given play was a possibility of seeing a defender get "Moss'd".
I personally loved watching LT. He never did anything crazy like Barry, Vick could do, or Lamar can do now. But he just ran so smooth. In my eyes he was the perfect RB.
Manning was the same thing. It wasn't that he did anything phenomenal. Just watching him command an offense. And break down a defense at the LOS. That was special to watch. Brady has the edge because of his longevity, and ability to always win. He's 100% the GOAT. But IMO, Manning will always be the better pure QB in his prime.

I was a Jackson fan from Day 1. In fact on draft day I was literally almost in tears when they drafted Hayden Hurst at 25. Then when they traded back into the 1st round and he was still available, I was jumping up and down. Man what a day that was.

Moore is great. Calvin Ridley was there when the Ravens picked though! I was screaming for Ridley. And the Falcons like Hurst so much they drafted Pitts.

That's how I would have acted if they had drafted Derrick Henry.
