Peters is a 6'4, 190 lb PG from District Heights, MD who plays for Suitland. He has blown-up across multiple ranking services, now 17th overall in the 247 rankings.

He has called MD his 'dream school.'

Great get for Turgeon!

Softens the blow of not landing the twins. Or at least, avoids the salt-in-the-wound feeling we would have had if we didn't land the twins and then lost out on another very good prospect because he felt neglected due to the attention we had to focus in trying to land the Harrisons. A delicate balance handled very deftly by Turgeon. Nice job!

I was and am a huge Gary fan, but here is the difference IMO. WHen plan A failed TUrgeon went right to plan B and worked his tail off to get his guy. This is huge. As I said before Turgeon along with Bino and Delonte are relentless.

I think Turg was one of the most underrated moves in college basketball. He's kept the program afloat.

He was a great COACH and a mediocre (at best) recruiter.

There is some truth to that. Gary had disdain for playing the game of dealing with AAU, and all of the other relationships that needed to be built to secure top talent in this era. So, in evaluating Gary overall as a recruiter; that certainly has to be factored. Even if you have a staff of elite recruiters (like Turgeon does), you still need a HC working to seal the deal.

Everybody knows I'm in the tank for Gary, but there is no way around that reality.

Turgeon might not be quite the x's and o's Coach Gary was... but his ability and desire to recruit the absolute best is going to give him and Maryland the chance to quickly be elite.

If the 11 players I mentioned as next year's current projected roster are in a Maryland uniform to start next year, they will be capable of winning the ACC and being a factor Nationally.

Would Wells lose a year of eligibility even if he sits out this year? Or are you assuming here that he gets cleared to play this year as sophomore?

Nobody has a real handle on this, myself included, but everyone seems to believe it remains unlikely the NCAA will clear him for eligibility this year. If that does not occur, would believe all standard transfer rules apply. Thus he would be out this year, and lose this year of eligibility.

Not to make to much of the glorified scrimmage at MM, but he really was impressive. Maryland would be fairly dangerous this year if he was eligible, and Howard could stay healthy and be an adequate pg.

Doesn't he still have a redshirt season available, which he could burn while he sits out for the transfer, and still have 3 years at UM?

Why would he lose a year as a standard transfer student? I understand why he has to sit a year if he's considered a transfer, but not why he would lose a year of eligibility.
