After a big win over West Virginia, the Terps will host Howard on Saturday night. This will be their third time playing the Bison, with the most recent matchup being a 79-0 Maryland win in 2019. They played just two games of a shortened spring schedule last season, losing both to Delaware State. Larry Scott took over as their head coach last year after spending most of his career as an offensive assistant coach in the state of Florida. In their first game of the 2021 season, they lost to Richmond by a score of 38-14.

This should serve as a tune-up game for Maryland, and give an opportunity for some players further down on the depth chart to get some playing time in the second half before their first road trip of the season next week against Illinois.

Locksley announces that starting LB Fa’Najae Gotay will miss a significant amount of time with an upper body injury that’ll require surgery. Branden Jennings and Gereme Spraggins will share that job.

Terps doing what they should against Howard, but doing it really well. Defense making plays, offense doing what they want.

But a couple sort of reckless decisions here lately with guys trying to make highlight plays but taking big hits. I'd pull the starters on offense in the 2nd half. Or at least Taulia and Jarrett.

Udinski has been very impressive so far in relief of Taulia.

And they did remove the starters after the first series of the 2nd half.

Didn't see any injuries, so that's what you really want in this sort of game. If you are going to play schools like Howard, the weekend before going on the road on a short week is right time.

Interesting that Isaiah Jacobs didn’t get into this game. I’ll have to look and see if Locksley addressed that at all.

I was aggravated that I could not watch it on BTN.  It sounded like the backups got some valuable experience.

It was on an “overflow” channel. I got it on YouTube TV. Even if your provider doesn’t offer that, that you didn’t get that game on the main feed living in MD seems odd.

You didn’t miss much. These games are useless as a measuring stick for evaluating the team. Like you said, it’s a good chance to play your backups. Unless you’re Florida State, of course.
