So ESPN aired a HS football game this past weekend on its main channel featuring IMG Academy, arguably the #1 team in the country this year, against an online charter school named Bishop Sycamore based in Columbus, OH. ESPN believed it had a great matchup on its hands. Why? Because Bishop Sycamore's coach told them he has a slew of D1 prospects on his roster.

Truth is, he doesn't. The "school" has only existed for two years, and its football team went 0-6 last season and was not competitive in any of those games (including a 56-6 loss to IMG). The outcome of this one was entirely predictable; IMG tore them apart 58-0. It got so bad that by the 2nd Qtr the announcers were expressing concern for the "health and safety" of the Sycamore players. And of course, Twitter had its say too.

Setting aside that this game never should have taken place to begin with, ESPN totally has egg on their face. Seeing as they have their own HS football recruiting service, they could have easily verified that this coach was full of BS before deciding to air the game. Oops.

Pretty crazy story.

My guess is they probably knew but just didn't care, because football content right now is all the rage.

ESPN is too big of an organization to let this happen,  Shame on the coach to put his kids in harms way.

This week's scheduled opponent, Johnson Central, KY, has also dropped Bishop Sycamore. I think they've played their last game.

Just to sum up what's been unfolding with this story:

- Bishop Sycamore apparently played a game against a school from PA just two days before that IMG game

- Most of their "players" are not even high-school aged, they're post-grad aged

- The official address listed for BS (how fitting are those initials?) is a residential duplex

- In addition to various legal woes, the BS coach is also out of a job as of today

- (EDIT) The governor of Ohio has ordered an investigation into the "school"

Teams realized something was up when the starting QB was revealed to be Uncle Rico and Al Bundy took the field at RB.
