The Orioles are 15-16, and are currently on pace for 78 wins.

They are in last place in the AL East, 3GB of Boston.

Run Differential is -6.

Home Record: 4-10
Road Record: 11-6

- Mullins has played like an All Star

- Means has pitched like a Cy Young

- Mancini is healthy, and heating up

- Hays spent time on the IL, but got back... too many k's, but showing a bit of his overall skills

- Rough April for Mountcastle, with some positive signs in the last week plus

- Galvis has an .804 OPS, Franco is at .648, with a bit better defense vs. advertised. You can improve on them, but they are legitimate professionals

- Santander only played in 16 games before his injury, and was scuffling early on

- The production at 2nd has been... 'not good'...

- Severino and Sisco can be very frustrating behind the plate, credit to Sisco on his throwing though

- DJ Stewart is 2nd on the team with 11 walks - in only 22 games - but he hasn't taken advantage of the 71 ab's he's received

- M. Harvey has pitched like he did in '18 after two lost seasons in '19 and '20

- Kremer is coming off his best start of the year.  Can he build off that? Too many homers, and walks. K's are good

- Lopez has a live arm, and looked excellent in that one start vs. Texas... but he's not a starter

- Zimmermann also has the look of a reliever

- Plutko has been excellent...  so has Fry (19 k's in 12 innings)...

- I like Scott a lot... 7 hits in 13.1 ip, and 14 k's... but you are always going to wonder if he's going to have his control in a particular outing. 12 bb's is ridiculous

- Would like to see more of Tate, and some more k's there

- Valdez is a lot of fun... we get that he doesn't have a long-term future, but it's fun to watch right now

I think you gotta talk about baseball environment as a whole and not just look at the Orioles stats and compare those to what typical trends for stats are.

Offense is down early on this year.  Last 5 seasons OPS was always between 728 and 758.  This year it is 702 for the league.

Certainly true.  Has to be discussed.

Some of that has to be the ball.

Do we think part of it is also we are seeing an adjustment from pitchers... to hitters who are being exposed a bit for forgoing contact for the Three True Outcome approach coupled with Launch Angle?

I'm enjoying a lower scoring environment.
As a fan, I'd still like to see more contact and balls in play.

Next 33 games...

Boston May 7th - 10th (4)
@NYM May 11th - 12th (2)
NYY May 14th - 16th (3)
Tampa Bay May 18th - 20th (3)
@Washington May 21st - 23rd (3)
@Minnesota May 24th - 26th (3)
@CWS May 27th - 30th (4)
Minnesota May 31st - June 2nd (3)
Cleveland June 4th - 6th (3)
NYM June 8th - 9th (2)
@Tampa Bay June 11th - 13th (3)

At that point, the Orioles will have played 64 games (40%) of their season.

Some predictions for the next 20% of the season?

Yeah, here's their rankings for assorted hitting categories

K%: 21st (25%), Tigers are 30th with 30.8%

BB%: 28th (7.2%), Angels are 30th with 6.8%

OPS: 27th (.659), Tigers are 30th with .604

Contact%: 21st (74.5%), Tigers are 30th with 71.6%

Anyways my takeaway here is I hope Torkelson lives up to the hype because the Tigers offense isn't looking too good
