I always felt like he wasn't truly given a chance to win as a manager. But his talents did seem to be best suited as a pitching coach. I'm sure he holds a special place in the hearts of all O's fans that were lucky enough to be around when he was involved with the team.
Good news! I saw a dog today.

Good Point
Terrible time for the Orioles team. Gillick was disgruntled, Peter was in heavy duty micromanagement mold.
Peter chased off Davey and instead of building off 2 strong seasons and playoff runs, they collapsed and the 14 years of hell started.

Very sad to see Ray pass. His impact on some real good Oriole pitchers was excellent.

His niece is the ex-wife of my wife’s cousin. She was going to make arrangements for me to meet him, but then she took the train to splitsville.
Here’s a cool story. Just after his niece married into the family she became ill and had to be hospitalized; the docs were afraid she wouldn’t make it. Ray Miller called Peter Angelos who then made some phone calls. The next thing you know she’s being transported to one of the big DC hospitals. My understanding is that Angelos paid some of her bills.

I’ll always remember Ray Miller.
Angelos is not a bad man, just a bad owner.
